The Mississippian RR was where I had my first train ride (even though they had no passenger service). It was SG. I found a bit of old movie footage on video covering it.
The tape covers about 6-7 different lines.
What's interesting to this board is that our discussion of a flying switch a while back was partially shown on this video.
It was on one of the Rayonier logging lines using a saddle tank mallet with a slope backed tender kicking (if this is the right way to use the slang) a caboose. The photographer did not expect it and only caught the last part of the kick.
The other item was the footage of Westside. The video showed shay's 8,9 and 10. Climax #3 was also around. What happened to 8, 9, and 10? Is 3 still there? (Forgive me for not attempting to maul the town's name - I can't spell in the best of times <img class=" />
Although in B&W and no sound (I grew up with Southern RWY and 8MM and Super8 movies so no sound is better than sound appended that does not match the motion in the video), it seemed that if you replaced the semi-arid Ponderosa Pines with the coastal CA Redwoods, you have the Roaring Camp and Big Trees.
BTW, does anyone know where I can get some Super-8 splices and who might be providing movie to video transfers?
Thanks.
