C&S engine pool/freight mix

August 08, 2003 08:36PM
In the latter years on the C&S what was the engine mix for freight operations. Since the C&S had to keep at least eight engines active for the Denver to Leadville run. If two engines were required for passenger operations, the #70's was restricted to the Clear Creek area, others were required for branch line, switching and one was required for reserve. Knowing moguls were used for passenger and on freight operations. That would leave 58, 60, 65, 68&69,71-73,74-76 & Q537. Did this not put a stain on the road assuming one or two engines would be in for repairs. What was the rotation. Also did this include leased D&RGW engines into the pool.
