It may be that the traditional crew quarters in Chama - Kelly's Café and The Shamrock Hotel - were closed for the winter, and the crews needed someplace to eat and sleep. I spent the night in 0503 a couple of times in 1970-72, and it was pretty comfy until the fire died out at about 3:00 a.m. and I had to get up and try to re-start it in the dark.
