I still remember the first time I set eyes on the Detroit Mine structure, back in '69 or so. I'm surprised I've never seen any pics of it published anywhere, considering how picturesque it was. I was sad to see it mostly gone sixteen years later, like so much of Colorado's (and the West's) mining historysmileys with beer. IF anyone has pictures of the Detroit structures, please consider posting them here, or feel free to backchannel me. We should always remember, the mines were the reason the trains came to the mountains in the first place.
