Jim,
I already wrote to the Higher Education Commission some time ago, with no apparent effect, hence the current round of letters.
Thanks to everyone who has posted corrections to my letters; the corrections just prove that, no matter how many times you re-read your own documents, mistakes slip by--a second editorial review is always useful. The letters are already on their way, mistakes included. It was just a good-faith effort on my part, and I hope the letters will be well received for their subject matter.
My letters alone won't suffice, however, to wake up the powers-that-be, who would rather not be stirred out of their comfort zones. My letters need to be followed by letters from each one of you to the very same people to whom I send my letters. It is the weight of growing angry correspondence that moves politicians into action. Don't sit back and wait for my letters to accomplish some miracle--that won't happen. It has to be all of us, in-state and out-of-state, ringing their doorbells, before corrective changes at the Loop take place.
This discussion board can be a resource for positive action, or it can just be a place to blow off steam (pun intended). It's your choice.
