Shucks, Skip - it weren't nothin'. It's only the first & last verses. I reckon we can come with a hunerd more*, if'n we put our collective minds to it ... I just didn't have time this evening, as John McEuen - one of the founders of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - was performing here in Ventura along with his son Nathan, Chuck Sailes and Paul (Yehudi) Cartwright, and I didn't want to miss the show.
(Imagine a smart-ass curmudgeonito sitting about 20 feet from one of - if not THE - best banjo players on the planet, in a room that holds about 45 people ... )
Russo Loco - "Hey John, do you know the difference between a banjo and an onion?"
J. McEuen - "No. What's the difference between a banjo and an onion?"
Russo Loco - "Nobody cries when you chop up a banjo ... "
- El Curmudgeonito
* for example:
"The engines are in disrepair, the tracks gone to Hell
You can blame the whole mess on sirs Behrens and Bell
And we know for certain that some
happy tragic day
The brakes will let go, and there'll be a runaway ..."
Once upon a time, it was hard to imagine myself as a songwriter - but those two guys make it so easy, it's ridiculous ...
