Ah! Did anybody catch that part where it was Railstar that closed the Loop down? It seems to me that fingers are already being firmly pointed even as the spinmeisters go into full "damage control" mode! I love how the CHS "suddenly" found itself without any engines or rolling stock(!) and how "it will take a little time" to get up to speed(!!)
Every story or article about the Loop misses the point! It's not about the problems the CHS is facing and it's not about the trains not running.
Those are the consequences of the decisions that have been made over the past three years! The real issue is the mismanagement and misuse of Colorado taxpayer dollars by out of control members of a government organization! The CHS is as much victims as are the people of Georgetown and Silver Plume, the GTL Inc. and it's former employees!
We get on our bandwagon and blast the CHS (and yes, I am one of the more vocal ones!) but the CHS as an organization have done tremendous things for Colorado and the preservation of it's history! This boondoggle with the Loop has cost the CHS dearly! It's a little bit like our situation in Iraq. We went in there with a plan that proved to be unworkable and now we are stuck and can't quit! We
have to keep at it and keep throwing more money in.....and more...and more... The CHS
has to make this work or all of the millions in wasted funds will have been for nothing! That in and of itself would damage the reputation of the CHS possibly to the point where it might be irrepairable! Is it any wonder that the "spinmeisters" are putting the best face on this while downplaying any problems?
The problem is that the solution isn't one that will put the CHS in a good light! Bringing back the GTL Inc. would be the same as admitting failure (which would be the same as the U.S. just leaving Iraq!) It's not going to happen. So what are the options? "Mo money, mo money, mo money!!!" (I wonder how they define "a short time"?)
