I imagine he did.... you can hear the air on the video go into emergency quite a distance back from the interlocking plant (siding switch) ..... the opposing train was still moving slowly and fouled the switch. It's a graphic example of how long it takes to stop a train ..... the seconds seem like hours, and there's not a darned thing you can do about it at that point but bail or hit the floor and wrap your arms around the seat post.
