Tim,
You can get to the cars, all it takes is a switch and about 50 yards of track.
You eat up a lot more Parking Lot with the track, but that still doesn't solve the problem that the brake systems weren't rebuilt when the cars were, that the 911 is still remains unrebuilt under a canvas tarp, which has got to be great for trapping moisture and accellerating the deterioration process and that the cupola on the Caboose is too high to fit through the door.
I think that the "Historically Accurate" Locomotive will either be the 111 or the Porter diesel.
Either way, it ought to attract people from all over the world, if they can manage to keep the doors open... and the engines running... and the brakes working... etc.
Think of it, a respite from Summit County Traffic, so you can rejoin the bumper-to bumpre exodus to Denver on a Sunday afternoon an hour later... when it's dark and colder and icier. Man... What a draw!
