The box cars could not of gone to the Philippines in 1942 since that was under Japanese rule and the only thing heading beyond Hawaii was soldiers, marines, sailors, and war materiale.
But perhaps they did go to the PI just after the war. If so where, which one of those 7,100 islands (according to this week's "Who Wants To Be A Millionare" TV program). Let's say they did go to the PI in 1945-46-47 and along the way they needed engines. One of those engines that maybe accompanied them was picked in Hawaii, NCNG#9!
She would not have been scrapped if she was desperatly needed in the PI. But what island were they parked on???
If we only knew then maybe we could track her down.
