Grant, Bill M started a thread about another stock car, asking the same question.

I'll link to that at the end of this message. Some of the replies were pretty detailed, but it seems that some of the cars did not have end doors, and if they did have end doors, they were apparently always on the B end of the car. The purpose for the doors was for loading lumber.
