You can only drive as far as Hancock, and then you have to walk the rest of the 3 or 3.5 miles or so up to the east portal. But it's a pleasant hike, with lots of Columbines and marmots for company. It's also fun to hike over from the east portal to the west, (and vice versa) as you get a fantastic view from the top looking west.
