Dan told me that the loop will be built around the pond that the dredge sits in.
The current end of track will be a part of the loop, but ends just past the Sumpter station building. There will need to be a cut excavated into the hillside for the counter-clockwise loop, and the main issue today is (of course) money to do the job. I don't recall the exact figure that Dan quoted me, but it was 6 figures.
In addition to not having to back to McEwen, it would save the time required to move the engine to the rear of the train and the subsequent brake test.
