It was where the ambulance was parked. Now they are not using it. I THINK the city property is 1 lot and the private property is 2 lots. It is from the East side of the sidewalk to the railroad property line.

Rod a lot of this information is what I have heard and NOT what I know to be a fact.
I THINK if I remember right??? The Narrow Gauge Gift shop was the old building and was not on the market. The private property Re/Max also was not available for sale. The owner was going to build a restaurant. The city property was being used for the ambulance. As best I remember there was no other commercial property by the railroad in the area you are talking about that was available to have discussions about.
Narrow gauge gift shop has NO basement. I do not know this for a fact but I think the old narrow gauge gift shop and land was bought for 180,000. Taking down the old building and building the new building I have been told cost 450 to 475 thousand and the 2nd floor was not finished. I have no guess as to how much is being spent on the real fancy first class 4 overnight rooms up-stairs but that is in addition to the 450 to 475 thousand.

Property values in Chama have gone up big time since I moved here. I would guess their appraised value today is more than they have into it. There is not a lot of commercial property available in the old section of Chama so what is here keeps going up. To give you a idea my hotel building has been appraised for 625,000.00. The commercial appraisal was in 2006. That is the building and the property not the businesses. The building is a 8,000 square foot building that was built in 1939. The Re/Max property has been reduced from 190,000.
