My views on this were affected by a visit my family made some years back to Greenfield Village.
As we walked around, I thought "It is nice to see Edison's lab, but I suppose the people in NJ must miss it", and then later "It is nice to see the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, but the people in OH must miss it."
Then we came to the Noah Webster (the dictionary dude) house. The story is that Mr. Ford's representatives arrived with their bag of money just before Yale Univ. turned it into splinters.
I realized that artifacts will be with us only as long as they are in the care of those who value them and have the resources to preserve them. DSNG and CATS need to maintain/build a base of people who know about them and are willing to spend money there on occasion.
