I have to disagree here--look at the 464 and the loco's at Knott's they all get historical and correct lettering because that's what they have been restored to represent. It really doesn't matter that a K-36 never ran up to Silverton--a K-37 ran to Rockwood during the Grande day's so that point of view is mute. I understand that the D&S is it's own company and has it's own history but if they really want to be an operating museum they should letter the equipment appropriately. I've suggested that each year or couple years they should try and represent a specific time period like the late 30's and have the engines appear as they did during that period and come up with a short but descriptive flyer to explain why the engines look the way they do. Bottom line there is no reason why they can't wear the Rio Grande name--if they really want to be a museum they should respect history.
