On 24 February, Denver had a train show/expo. One of the exhibits was Uhrich Locomotive Company from Strasburg, CO.
I spoke with them about progress with D&RGW coach 280 that is supposed to run on the Georgetown Loop RR this summer - if we are allowed water to run.
ULCO told me that their next major project may be the complete build of a 24" shay locomotive for a group that wants to build a tourist railroad above Central City. I mentioned the HCR shay, now in Colorado Springs, being for sale. He told me that they are looking at that also. He didn't tell me much about the group that wants to do this since there is no contract yet. Central City hasn't been very accomodating to past railroad operations, but gambling has slid away from Central City and into Blackhawk. They may be figuring that people may need a short break from the one armed bandits.
