The HCR was built on the roadbed of the former 3' gauge Railroad at a Shopping area outside of Golden, Colorado known as Heritage Square. The former 3' gauge was known as the Magic Mountain Railroad. This was an ill-fated attempt to replicate the California Amusement Park in the early sixties. The power for Magic Mountain was ex-RGS No. 42.
The High Country Railroads most visible principle was Ed Gerlits, a local Denver railfan. The gauge was 24". Among the 2' gauge baggage car the you mentioned, there was a 2' gauge shay and an internal combustion (diesel? Gasoline?). The equipment was owned by various individuals including Ed, Jim Eherenberger of Cheyenne and Stu Anderson of Boulder.
The railroad was abandoned when Ed felt that the operation took too much of his time. I don't know what became of the equipment.
