Ughhh...I swore I would never post here again...BUT LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT...The problem with the leased Reader locomotive No.4, in Florida, operated by the Orlando & Mount Dora, a Iowa Pacific Holdings project....DID NOT suffer from being run without lubrication or the drain cocks on the cylinders not being opened. I have heard this a zillion times...but let it be known to all, from someone who knows...because I was there, that you heard it from the horses ass (this will save time for some of my dettractors) that the only problem that shut the No.4 down was a major hot box on the rear right driver. Which was caused by the fact that the mechanic hired missed replacing the missing spring that pushes up the perforated plate up against the grease, to push it up on the axle, packed in the bottom of the seller. After this incident the engine was not run again. At no time was the hydrostaic lubricator not properly working. AND for what it is worth, unless a person knows the intimate background and true facts...they should not pass "heresay" around. Me and my company, Edwards Rail Car Co. have found Ed Ellis and company to always be forthright with payment on invoices and never have I known of an employee getting stiffed. I was the guy in charge of the No.4 AND I was always the engineer....and for those that might give a darn, I am proud to say that I personally operated and maintained the locomotive for 16 months (prior to OM&D) of operation in Mount Dora, it ran every weekend and made every scheduled trip and was never down for repairs while under my stewardship. I think I can say that I know something about this engine.
I say....three cheers to Ed Ellis and for putting his money where few dare to tread!
Ok....its really good bye. Cheers to all.
