"Elkton" prints and donated art

Ed, there are some very limited edition "giclee" prints of paintings both myself and Jeff Ellingson have done available from the our group. They cost $200 apiece. We may come out with smaller, cheaper lithographs of the same two later.
Auctioning off original art is notorious in the art world for their disappointing returns. A few years back I sold a painting to the 169 group in Alamosa at half price. They auctioned the painting at some public function in Alamosa, without getting a single bid! So much for local support. It finally sold at an auction at the Detroit Narrow Gauge Convention in 2005. It sold to a good customer of mine- for $100 over what the 169 group paid for it! Incidentally, the 169 group is selling prints of this painting, and they have made some money with them.
Once I donated a painting I had priced at around $500 to an auction for our local public radio station. It fetched only $200. Beth, the manager, wrote a receipt, valuing the painting at $500, for tax purposes. God bless Beth and NPR!
