Silverton's pole unloading site was on the Silverton Northern at the Western Colorado Power Co.'s substation about a mile out of town. They had a siding and a 3-legged crane set up. The remains of that were still on the ground until about 1980 when Sunnyside Gold bulldozed the area. The brick substation building is still there, and the office building was moved into town for the present visitor's center. The mule barn is still standing. WCPC abandoned that site about 1938/39 as I recall, though they retained ownership until they sold it to Standard Metals. So, from the demise of the SN onwards, there was no specific place in Silverton to unload poles--geez, we could have saved the narrow gauge if they had kept on shipping poles.
