It is interesting to compare the Silverton transfer with the bigger one the D&RGW had in Alamosa. Dave's picture shows the Silverton transfer was missing a bunch of parts to lift and move loads, and that would indicate this structure had not been used for quite some time. Here's an August 1957 (that's only 50 years ago!) picture I took of the Alamosa transfer moving telephone or power poles from a standard gauge car to the narrow gauge car on the right:
