John ,When I rode the consist was 85, an OR&L combine and coach. There was an 0-6-2 a caboose and SP caboose 12 and a few other cars. The line was about a mile long, maybe two. Griffith Park is the largest urban park in our country. At one time they had big plans for the n.g. collection. I think the plan was to run a couple more miles down to the zoo. A story I heard was a boiler repair on #85 was botched and it never ran again.
Sadly, the city let the excellent Traveltown collection fall apart, helpless to theft and vandalism. The sprawling city had literally hundreds of parks to maintain, and this facility fell through the cracks. The last time I went, it was too painful to look, and I never went back.
I have been down to the OETRM a few times and enjoyed myself riding the old LA Rys stuff, for old time's sake. The volunteers are friendly and were gracious enough to allow me to inspect the Ward Kimball collection. In fact, I am painting a picture of Nevada Central #2 for a member.
