Forgive me if I have told this anecdote about the Alamosa turntable. I brought a friend (now deceased)to the rr once that I had recently gotten aquainted with. He had been telling me stories throughout our trip of his early days of railfanning in the 50's and 60's. We had just driven in the yard gate when he started telling about a visit to Alamosa. As we doubled back toward the backshop having made a loop around the yard, he was telling about riding in the cab of one of the 490's as it was turned at Alamosa just as we were going by the turntable. I had not mentioned it, and it was quite a supprise indeed when I said "Well there it is". His response was something like "Well what is? Oh my gosh!".
