The Coeur d' Alene Railway & Navigation Co. ran from a steamboat landing (Old Mission Landing) on the Coeur d' Alene River east to Kellog, Wallace, and Burke. The railroad owned four 2-6-0's (two Baldwins and two Grants), 21 box cars, 36 flat cars, and two coaches. Also on the roster were three steamboats and two barges. Built in 1886/1887, the line was leased to the Northern Pacific in 1888. The NP abandoned narrow gauge operations betwen 1892 and 1896, lifting the track between Wallace and the Old Mission landing in 1898.
The best collection of photos are in Wood, John V. *Railroads Through the Coeur d' Alenes.* A business history of the CR&N is contained in Fahey, John R. *Inland Empire: D. C. Corbin and Spokane.* Both are out of print, but should be available via inter-library loan or in second-hand book stores.
