This is precisely why colorizing a photo is a bad idea. If some future historian uses it as a basis of fact it presents a false history.
I didn't like it when Ted Turner thought it dressed up b/w film classics and I don't like it when historic photos are messed with either. Making it 'look like' an old color slide isn't good either.
If you just --have to-- colorize a photo, it should have a text caption saying so embedded in the image.
