Frank,
I don't have anything more on the Sheep Dip Pens, you are right they look abandoned in the 1920's.
(This should get the fur aflying: but I plan to model the Sheep Pens on my 1950's era layout, it looked like a neat operation.. I have a Rule 1 layout,I do what I wan't, ie: its set in the 50's with the San Juans & Shavianos, running with pipe trains and all 10 of the 28's are still puttering about,485 is alive and well, the Chilli Line is still active, and so on... its almost as much fun watching someone get all worked up about something minor on a model railroad as it is in building it..Rule 2 is that if you don't like the layout, head for the door........)
Well that was sorta of long winded, as for the Ice House, I was wondering if it was a Railroad structure(early)and if it was used to resupply the Pass. trains, cabooses, and maybe depot and shops. I would guess that the refers got iced from the larger house in Durango after the contents were transfered from the standard gauge cars from Farmington, and could make the trip to Alamosa without reicing at Chama.... only a guess...
