Thanks, John and Carlos,
They were very informative replies that makes me confident that you guys are doing a great job and making the best progress possible. Wheel diamenters of EBT cars are different than SG so the tie as sled seems to be working fine. And your study to source the stone and program movement around each other indicate you have it controlled like the pros you sure are. Keep up the good work and thanks for the great photos.
Just photos of ng electramatic tampers are rare- rare items to find.
Also nice to know that the coal burns to a finer ash that most railroad cinders of years ago and guess it will not be used in track. Get your photos of the old cinder roadbed as that will go away like the steamers passing. Most hard coal cinder used to pack hard as cement under the ties but was loose where pressure was not on it and it drained well. But it was no good for 100 ton cars.
This shows that sometimes the archaic way is best.
C&TS is the greatest example of history for being the old way things were done.
