I didn't realize you were on the train that day. I take it you were on the Extra with #40 as motive power? I was on the Extra as well, with John Hammond and Ron Ruhoff as the conductor & brakeman. We stopped backing under High Bridge, and I got off and moved the rock from the tracks, then again at the top of High Fill curve, and again on the palisades. The rock at the palisades was right in the middle of the rails, and was mostly flat. It was big enough however to strike the bottom of #40's firepan.
Ahhhh, yes.......the trials of running a MOUNTAIN railroad. There's always something different to experience.
