Don't worry, Greg, I've dosed myself with a home made elixir guaranteed to ease myself into a more relaxed state to end the day..... A touch of grog to ward off evil and illicit messages from our sacred board.
Paul is correct, #480 was the second K-36 restored for use on the D&S. She was part of the package Bradshaw purchased in 1981, moved to Durango by truck in May of that year. She was put into service in July 1985.
#482 followed into service 1992, having been part of a trade which sent #497 to the C&TS.
#486 is the most recent "new" locomotive added to the roster, back in what, 2003?
As I said yesterday, the history of the Silverton Branch has marched right along in the post D&RGW era, and if the time has come to Bumblebee one of these engines for Railfest, cool beans.
The D&S has earned the right not to have to defend themselves from accusations of historical inaccuracy. Especially for Railfest, which is their own event. There is still occasionally time to play trains and make believe it isn't really 2006, and we are both young enough to still be around long enough to relive some of those times. But don't let that cane get too far away, I'll be needing one in another few years, no doubt about it. Crayuft will, too, I don't care what he says.
