Last September I traveled from Nahcatta, WA, to Chama. I stayed in Chama and took the train to Antonito, stayed over night and took the train back the next day (parlour car). Stayed two more nights in Chama which allowed some train chasing before driving back to Albuquerque to fly back to Portland. Even found time on the way back to stop at the 'Friends' office and say hello to the very nice folks there.
The reason that I mention this is that others might feel that going that distance and spending some money, maybe they would want to get a fuller experience out of it.
Possibly to get people to participate in this way, a small incentive could be offered by the railroad and/or the hotel, motel and B & B owners on both ends of the line in the way of a small discount, gift coupons, etc. (I realize Antonito does not have as many shops, restaurants and places to stay as Chama) Why couldn't Chama/Antonito hotel, motel, and B & B owners take this mind numbing idea and work together.
Getting folks to ride both ways would cause them to spend more time in the two communities which I would think would increase sales.
