I could be wrong on this, but I was under the impression that after the installation of the third rail, almost all narrow gauge cars were pulled by standard gauge trains using idler cars. I believe the last movement in narrow gauge steam was by the C&S when they moved the last of the stored equipment from Gunnison after the closing of the Alpine Tunnel. This movement was run over Marshall Pass to Salida on the D&RG narrow gauge then proceeded to Leadville on the D&RG main line. I believe this happenned in 1911.
