I'm pretty sure Tony Kassin, who has been part of the pipe train restoration project for several years, will stop by here with some info. In the meantime, I'll share what I know of the project. Several D&RGW ng pipe gons and idler flats have been rebuilt/restored by the Friends of the C&TS over the last several yars and loaded with some old pipe to provide a 'working' display of the pipe trains of the 50's and 60's. Perhaps Tony can give the specifics on how many cars are part of this project, and how many are complete so far, but I believe 3 idler flats and two pipe gons are what the project calls for. At least three of the five cars (two flats and a gon) are done, maybe more. These cars are almost complete rebuilds as far as the wood components are concerned and the crews working on them have done a fantastic job. They look great. Check out the Friends 'News' website for pictures from the June wokk sessions. There is one good pictures third row from the top of the pipe gon and an idler flat.
