OK, lets talk about what photoshopped means. I will describe the capture and adjustments made using camera raw and photoshop.
473 was backed in on the west lead on 12th st. There was enough light to see from a street light but the locomotive was a black hole. I used a Canon 1d with a 28-70 zoom, iso 200 f/16 exposure, a while on bulb. Camera on a tripod.
During this shot the engineer was doing a walk around (white streak on right from flashlight) and the headlight was turned on low briefly. I used a portable spotlight to light the face of the smoke box and compressors.
This morning in camera raw I adjusted the color temp to a more neutral point, darkened the highlights a bit and lightened the midtones.
Using photoshop I lightened the locomotive a bit to match the fireworks and removed the conduit and breaked box on the power pole as well as a couple of other reflections and lights on the left and some headlights on the mountainside. I darkened the blacks a bit and the power pole and wires disappeared.
In summary I adjusted color, contrast and tonality, removed some annoying details and added nothing post capture.
Now its everyone elses turn to comment. Is it photoshopped or not?
I will post more of this series later and may have some closing comments
