Yes, FEC 148 was indeed owned by Doug Brown of Michigan. Back in the late 1990's it was listed for a while by D.F. Barnhardt for sale at something like $130,000. At the time it was stated as being "ready to roll", which I suppose was an accurate, if misleading statement, since it was partially disassembled but still on its wheels.
BTW, someone in an earlier post mentioned S&A 750, but didn't recall the original FEC number. FEC 80 became S&A 750. She is the oldest of the 5 extant FEC pacifics. Georgia Northern Ry. 107 was FEC 88, the second oldest, with 113, 148 and 153 rounding out the group. It would be nice to see one of these old gals running again, even if in far-off Colorado.
