When I first rode the "Silverton" in '58 or '59, as a kid, I was not fond of the "Silver Vista". I had seen it in my dad's honeymoon movies which showed my mom apparently enjoying the ride on the SV. I thought it was ugly - didn't look narrow gage enough. I didn't like brussel sprouts then either.
Funny how tastes change. I own a model of the SV and I am delighted that D&S recreated the car. I think it will be very popular and I can't wait to ride it.
My dad told me on numerous occasions, that there was a rumor circulating at the time of the fire that destroyed the original SV, that it was not an accident. The car was proving to be too popular. Bob Richardson would probably know.
We have found, at Strasburg, that first class and special cars are very popular and greatly help the bottom line with overall ridership being a bit stagnent. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gold, Platinum, and Molybdenum Vistas coming out of the shops. Good job, D&S!
