Whether it was too close for someone's comfort level or not is kind of a moot point. Vehicles are supposed to stop for oncoming trains even though a lot of them don't! Most people would WANT to stop and watch a steam engine go by! The only group of drivers that would have an interest in beating a train to a crossing would be professional drivers that are "on the clock". What galls me is that these very professionals are the one's that are supposed to be that much more in tune with the rules of the road!
Roger was there and, in his opinion, this trucker made an unnecessary (and possibly dangerous) run at the intersection trying to "beat the train". How close he was to getting crunched is really missing the point other than to say that he was close enough that somebody was afraid it MIGHT have happened!
