El Coke:
Let me play devil's advocate with this Lybia location.
Wasn't that a French area? Do the French have 3' gauge systems? If so where are they?
Now let's say they do and there's a chance it's there. Does Lybia have a metal scrapping industry? On the plus side...the dry desert air would protect the engine. If she was in the PI, she'd be rusted. Even the engines that Lawrence destroyed in the Arabian desert during WWI are still there and from photographs look repairable. Let's be positive and research the libraries on past and present Lybian 3' rail systems. Anyone out there have North African knowledge and contacts?
