Yes there definitely was a second track along the mainline. The attached picture west of the crossing shows the 480 on the now missing track with the (existing) track toward the camera.
Last time I looked the crossing buck still says two tracks. As I remember it the second track was slowly removed piece by piece to provide replacement rail to the MOW gang.
