Brian. The original steps were cast iron and that is what the quote is for. I am going to an Aluminum foundry, here in Grand Junction, next week to see what they can do for us. Don’t see where it would make any difference after getting a thick coat of paint.

You are right - the steps were designed in 1878 and originally used as a combination step and grab iron to reach the brake wheel on the end of 4 wheel box and stock cars.
I assume Golden has been asked already but I will check to make sure.
