Thanks Guys ! My Buddy from Kansas City and I were there too. We couldn't get tickets, so we bought chasing passes. When they came they were accompanied by advice that everything in Chama was booked up and the closest accomodations were
some 60 miles away. We solved that by borrowing a pickup truck with an Alaskan camper from a friend in Colorado Springs and using it, camped on the Chama depot lot.
The passes and tickets were accompanied by a warning that people with health problems should not risk coming and that everyone should be dressed and equipped for winter weather. It was
amazing how many that came ignored that recommendation. It was also amazing (and time consuming) to see them try to get around in that deep snow after falling thru the thin crust it had. I remember one guy we were all waiting for,
so the run could start, who broke thru the crust
of a drift and all we could see was the tassle on his cap.
Wish we could do it again !
