I found nothing at Escuintla today to suggest earlier reports that the engines had been scrapped were wrong. On the other hand, the yard at Escuintla is so overgrown now who knows what might be buried in the bushes and trees. But it was a good excuse to pay a visit and look around. While the Atlantic Division of the old IRCA motors on under Ferrovias auspices, the Pacific Division appears to hardly exist anymore with much rail missing, squatters occupying the right of way, and trees growing between what rail remains. Sad.
