For the past few years I've been concerned about disk space on our server, we were limited to 200MB. Well, we reached that milestone week before last. In resolving this problem, we have been able to aquire considerably more space. As a result, I've decided to open up the option for people to upload images to the NGDF. However, I would like to ask that people follow a few rules.
First, file sizes are limited to 200KB. This should be large enough for almost any purpose.
Second, I would like to ask that if you upload an image to this forum that you also link to it from here (in other words please don't use this forum as a file server). There are lots of other sources that offer this service.
Third, please limit subject content to trains, preferably narrow gauge, or at least steam.
Fourth, please do not upload a photo that you want to use as a signature photo. While we have plenty of disk space, I'm now a little worried about bandwidth, and repeatedly calling up a signature photo will eat up some of that unnecessarily.
Lastly, you can link to your image at the URL:
(obviously with the YourPhoto.jpg being whatever you actually name your photo).
As for copyright issues, the rights to the photo belong to the person who took it, however if you post it, it is available to anyone who might come along.
We'll give this a try for a while, however if there seem to be abuses, we might have to alter or discontinue the service.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
