For a five year period, Baldwin only made the following 3' gauge 2-6-2 engines, and they all had 37" drivers and 12x18 cylinders. I do not have the class list but likely all built to the same class number and from the same plan: [no other foreign shipments occured]
SS&S #20 #52587 11/1919
SS&S #22 #52588 11/1919
SS&S #24 #53795 10/1920
SS&S #26 #53796 10/1920
EWA #7 .. #57854 6/1924
NEXT CLOSEST ENGINE WAS;
KAHULUI RY #10 #58009 9/1924 2-6-2 with 40" 14x20 cylinders.
Others during this time are not simular:
Ludwick Lbr: #3 #55515 7/22 2-6-0
F C dCaldas #7 55740 10/22 2-6-2T 33 11x16
US Army Ft Weaver #57789 5/24 2-6-0
Binalbagan Isbela Sugar PI #57971 8/24 2-6-2T
Question: If the new boiler did not fit #85 and could not be used on the Alco #48585, what is its size and could it be sold and used on another engine that needs a boiler?
Note: SS&S means Surry, Sussx & Southhampton Ry of Dendron, VA and its #26 is now owned by Dr. Ralph Cox and is rented to Pine Creek RR in NJ.
