Olaf, nothing wrong with the Punk bit. Different strokes for different folks. A few years back I was working as rear brakeman. I generally enjoy chatting and sharing some SVRy history with the small number of folks that choose to ride in the the best spot on the train (the caboose). This one trip though there was just one young guy that had tattoos every place that showed and piercings by the score. I think he must have had a dozen or more rings in each ear. I was kind of turned off by his appearance, but determined to treat him like anyone else and offer the usual history speal and offer to answer any questions he might have. Turned out he was a knowledgable rail fan that was quite interested in history as well as operations which points out that the hobby has a lot of room for diversity.
I think we need to encourage as many younger folks like you and Taylor as possible to take part in rr preservation.
