Blame me, Owen - I wrote that document. I've spent quite a lot of time working in the UK and other European countries over the years, and it's worked its way into my vocabulary.
We've been using "parlour" (err, parlor
" /> and "First Class" interchangeably when discussing the concept. But our advertising and reference material for our salespeople will refer exclusively to "Parlo(u)r Car Service" - if we call the cars "First Class," the implication is that the regular seating is somehow "second class," which isn't the case.
As to the interior appearance, the cars will NOT look like D&RGW cars. The San Juan Parlo(u)r cars featured a dining area and kitchen in addition to a lounge area. Our cars will feature a bathroom, open seating for 20 or so passengers, and an attendant's cabinet for snacks, drinks, etc. The woodwork inside the cars will be redone, carpeting installed, etc. Seats will probably be wicker or rattan.
Hope this helps. Thanks for the kind comments and wishes.
