you have to be a trainnut like yourself or me or the many others on this board to go to this area just because there are steam trains running. The general drawing themes are mountain landscape and native Americans. It worked for me and my wife. So I'd venture to say that Royal Gorge, Taos, the roads on my list, Telluride and Mesa Verde (think Yogi Bear -> Yellowstone -> National Parks) do well represent what draws many of the people who visit this area.
As far as I am concerned, the only place on my list that I have not seen yet is Canyon of the Ancient / Hovenweep; they stuck into my eye as a big green blotch in the Rand McNally Road Atlas last night, easier eye-catching there than even Mesa Verde.
