Jeff, I too am interested in the SVRy post 1947. So many references to the rr have been written to say that the give the impression that the rr ceased to exist after June 1947, but this really isn't the case. After the last run in (I think it was June 47) of one of the mallets, there must have been a lot of trips made on the mainline during the scrapping process by the 7. It also seems to me that one of the OLC Heislers was not scrapped till in the early 50's. If this is so, there might have been more than one engine involved in the scrapping of the mainline. For one thing I assume they had to start scrapping the 20 mile OLC mainline before the SVRy track was torn up. SVRy apparently did exist as a company till 1961, the last revenue run of the 101 being in Nov. We know that Floyd Carpenter after 1947 was appointed as Superintendent of both the SVRy and Mt. Hood Ry. I donated a very large ledger book to the SVRR archives last year that was a cash book from Mt. Hood Ry. It was from the late 40's on up a few years. It had many references to cash payments to purchase items of material from the SVRy after 1947 by Mt. Hood, so there is no question that SVRy continued as an operating entity albeit a short one till the end of 61. The car rosters list a few pieces of rolling stock being on hand pretty late. I'll see what was left in those last years.
