Header scrapping myth *LINK* *PIC*

Actually, the header was not scrapped, it is still in there, and still moves steam- however the holes were plugged. (Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated) I've looked into and had my hand inside the header (to remove scale) a couple years ago, before we reinstalled the branch pipes. I never could figure out exactly how Knott's plugged them- possibly weld- but I don't know for sure. I snapped this picture the morning of January 23, 2003. I was lapping the rings and the mating seats for the rings.
