Mike,
Point taken and I agree with you that it is easy to criticize from behind a keyboard sitting in a nice cozy chair! As you point out, there is always work that needs to get done and a lack of volunteers to do it!
I am a lifetime member of the CRRM and would like to come out and help with restorations. If time permits this year I might be a be to make a weekend but I live in Kansas so it's an eight hour drive each way.
My father lives in Golden, CO only 1.5 miles from the CRRM so I get out there about three times a year. My father is semi-invalid due to knee surgery so traveling all over the state is a rare occurence. This is why the Georgetown Loop is so near to my heart! It is the one railroad that is close enough for my father, myself and my children to visit regularly!
It was also the very first full size steam engine that I had the pleasure of riding behind! My father was living in Golden and would bring us out for a week in the summer. We rode the Loop that first year and have ridden it at least 20 times over the past 30 years.
The only reason I'm bringing this up is that I am a railfan and I DO care what happens! I try and support restoration and operations efforts with financial support if not physical labor due only to logistical problems inherent in distance between where I live and where these projects are! I try to be supportive in most postings but certain issues have me really "torqued"!! This one with the Georgetown Loop and the CHS is unfortunately one of them.
